Public Transportation
Ljubljana has a good bus transportation system payable with tokens (available at a reduced price in post offices) or cash. A flat fare rate applies, regardless of the distance travelled. Also available are daily and weekly passes.
The nearest bus stops to the Congress Centre are:
-Drama (lines 1, 3, 6, 9, and 19)
-Kongresni trg (lines 10, 13, 17)
-Cankarjev dom (line 14)
-not far away are also bus stops of lines 2, 11, 20 and 21.

Taxis
A taxi service is available day and night. To order, dial 9700, 9701, 9702, or 9705.

Car Parking
It is difficult to find parking in the city centre. We recommend to use car parking outside the centre and use the bus transport instead. There is limited parking close to the Congress Centre in Trg republike, at the cost of approximately 12 EUR per day.

Currency and Banking
The currency in Slovenia is the Slovenian tolar (SIT). One Euro is approximately equivalent to 240 SIT (February 2006). Money can be easily exchanged at banks and exchange ofices, travel agencies, hotels, airports, railway stations, and some post offices. The usual banking hours are Weekdays 9.00-12.00 and 14.00-17.00. Few banks are open on Saturdays. There is a bank in the immediate vicinity of the Congress Centre. Many hotels and shops accept foreign currencies.
Automatic Cash Dispensers
Automatic cash dispensers accepting Visa, Eurocard/Mastercard, American Express credit cards and Maestro Cirrus are situated at all main banks in Ljubljana, many other places in the town and also at Ljubljana Airport. The nearest cash dispenser to the Congress Centre is at the main entrance to the Maximarket department store located 50 metres from the Congress Centre.
Credit Cards
All major credit cards, such as Visa, Mastercard - Eurocard, Diners, American Express etc. are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops.
Electricity
Voltage in Slovenia is 230V at 50Hz. Electric sockets only accept round-prong plugs. Appliances designed to operate on 110/120V need a voltage converter and a plug adapter.
Drinking Water
Tap water is safe and drinkable throughout the country .
Weather
The highest daily temperatures in July are between 25 and 30 degree Celsius. We advise you to check the weather forecast before coming to Slovenia. The weather is generally pleasant, but it can be changeable. So a light raincoat or umbrella and warm clothing for the evenings might be useful.
Public Phones
Public telephones operate on magnetic cards. Magnetic cards are sold at post offices; at newspaper kiosks and tobacco shops.
Mobile Phones

Wi-Fi coverage available
NeoWLAN is Slovenian public wireless network, compliant to IEEE 802.11b standard, also known as Wi-Fi (SSID = neo). It enables very fast and simple internet or e-mail access for Laptop and PDA users. When started the internet browser automatically redirects to NeoWLAN entering page. Autentification system assures a simple registration:
- Mobitel GSM/UMTS and Pree-paid users can also enter their GSM number to receive SMS with a one-time password;
- With NeoWLAN prepaid card, which can be bought in every Mobitel Center across Slovenia (important: If you log in to NeoWLAN network using a 2-hour prepaid card at 12.00 a.m. for the first time, your prepaid card will expire at 2.00 p.m., irrespective of how much time you actually spent logged in to the network).
Shopping
Many antique shops, sales galleries, arcades and the open-air market create the spirit of the Old Town. Wednesdays and Saturdays are the best days to visit Ljubljana Market, which is not only a market, but also a meeting point of Ljubljana inhabitants, especially on Saturdays. On Sundays, there is a flea market held on the banks of the Ljubljanica River. Shopping centres are located in suburbs.
Opening hours are mostly nonstop without lunch time closing Weekdays from 09.00 to 19.00, Saturdays from 9.00 to 13.00. Most shops are closed on Sundays.
